Control yourselves, or people will control you: Jamaat chief warns political parties
"We will not allow anyone to betray the blood through which autocracy was overthrown," Jamaat Ameer said

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has warned political parties to refrain from misconduct in the name of politics, stating that if they do not control themselves, the people will take charge.
Referring to recent incidents across the country, Shafiqur said, "Looting and misdeeds are being carried out in the name of politics. We urge those responsible to be cautious. Control yourselves, otherwise the people will control you, Insha'Allah. Be prepared for the upcoming struggle."
He made these remarks at a street rally in the Paduar Bazar Bishwaroad area of Cumilla at 7am today (5 July). He addressed a similar rally earlier in the Alekharchar area of the district.
"We will not allow anyone to betray the blood through which autocracy was overthrown. We want to honour that sacrifice and ensure the nation does not have to pay that price again. That depends on whether the next election is fair. We do not want a chaotic election," said Shafiqur Rahman.
He also said, "Our long-standing demand is a fair election. We do not want repetitions of 2014, 2018, or 2024. Some signs of such intentions are already visible. For those planning this, our message is clear: people brought about change with blood. If needed, we will do it again. This nation has never compromised on such matters, and we will not either."
Calling upon the youth, he said, "Students, youths, and workers must draw inspiration from past struggles to move forward. We want to leave behind a country where the next generation can live in peace."
The street rally in Paduar Bazar was presided over by Central Surah Member and Cumilla Metropolitan Ameer Kazi Deen Mohammad and conducted by Metropolitan Secretary Mahbubur Rahman.
Among others, speeches were delivered by Central Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ATM Masum, Central Majlish-e-Shura Member and Cumilla District South Ameer Mohammad Shahjahan, Ameer of North District Professor Abdul Matin, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Metropolitan Jamaat Mohammad Mosleh Uddin, Professor AKM Emdadul Haque Mamun, Assistant Secretary of South District Jamaat Md Mahfuzur Rahman, Executive Council Member of South District Jamaat and party-nominated candidate for Cumilla-8 Professor Shafiqul Alam Helal, and other local leaders.
