Chhatra Shakti burns home adviser's effigy at DU, will hold 'gayebana janaza' tomorrow
No demands can be made to an irresponsible home adviser, they said
National Chhatra Shakti today (18 December) brought out a protest procession demanding the resignation of the interim government's Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury over failure to arrest the attackers of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
They also burned an effigy of him and announced a "gayebana janaza" tomorrow after Asr prayers.
The organisation brought out the procession at 5pm today from Shahbagh intersection in the capital. The procession marched around Dhaka University's TSC and VC Chattar, and came to a halt in front of the Raju sculpture, where they held a brief rally.
At the brief rally, National Chhatra Shakti President Zahid Ahsan said ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina "will be tried in Bangladesh, but not through Jahangir".
"We are not demanding anyone's arrest from Jahangir, because he is unfit to hold the post," he said. "No demands can be made to an irresponsible home adviser."
