Chhatra Dal condemns 'provocative and arrogant' remarks by NCP leader Patwari

The Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal has strongly condemned and protested against what it termed as "provocative and arrogant" remarks made by National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari during a street rally in Cox's Bazar today (19 July).

In a statement today, the student wing of the BNP said the NCP leader made "highly disrespectful and inflammatory" comments about BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed.

The statement described Patwari as a "suddenly emerged hybrid politician" who frequently makes "unhinged and politically indecent remarks" about the country's esteemed national leaders. "His erratic behaviour and speech have led many to question his mental stability," the statement read.

"It is concerning that instead of contributing to constructive political practices, some self-proclaimed new-generation leaders are travelling across the country spewing hatred against BNP and its affiliated bodies," the statement added.

Chhatra Dal warned that any public backlash in response to such "indecent, incoherent, and reckless" remarks would be the sole responsibility of the NCP leaders.

NCP rally disrupted, stage dismantled in Cox's Bazar over Patwari's remark about BNP's Salahuddin

Earlier in the afternoon, speaking at the rally in Cox's Bazar's Chakaria, Patwari stated, "During Awami League's rule, Shamim Osman was known as the godfather of Narayanganj. Now we hear that a new godfather has arrived in Cox's Bazar from Shillong. He is grabbing lands, fisheries, extorting money.

"And yet he claims he doesn't understand reform. I won't mention names. But the people of Cox's Bazar will stop those who are against reforms and do not understand the proportional representation [PR] system."

Later, local BNP leaders and activists, alongside agitated locals, dismantled the temporary stage built on vehicles for the NCP event. BNP activists also launched protest marches condemning the NCP leader's remarks across the district.
