Elected govt targeted by allies of fallen govt seeking to create instability: Rizvi
Rizvi said the government would not tolerate any anarchy, crime, or activities that undermine public safety.
BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that allies of the fallen government are carrying out various activities to create trouble for an elected government and destabilise the country.
Some people are becoming involved in subversive activities as part of these efforts and urged everyone to remain alert, he said today (7 October) while addressing a dengue awareness campaign event on the premises of Bangladesh Medical University in Dhaka.
Referring to the recent escape of a top criminal from a prisoner transport van, he questioned how such a person could flee from police custody. "Such incidents raise questions about security measures."
He said the government would not tolerate any anarchy, crime or activities that undermine public safety.
Called for collective efforts to combat dengue, Rizvi said the disease can be controlled to a large extent through early awareness.
He said individuals, families, social organisations, and relevant government agencies must work together to prevent the spread of dengue.
People should quickly remove stagnant water around homes and other places and ensure that dirty and rotten water does not accumulate, he said.
The senior BNP leader said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has also given necessary instructions on the issue.
"Rotten and stagnant water must be cleaned quickly so that breeding grounds for dengue cannot develop. If we remain alert in advance, the dengue outbreak can be controlled to a large extent," he said.
On dengue testing, Rizvi, who is also an adviser to the prime minister, said people previously had to pay Tk50 for the test, but arrangements have now been made to provide it free of charge.
Describing the move as a government initiative to ensure healthcare for the people, he said the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is a government of the people.
Rizvi urged people to keep their homes, workplaces and surrounding areas clean and remove stagnant water as part of efforts to prevent dengue.
