Chhatra Dal claims mob blocked leaders from collecting Ducsu nomination forms
"DU authorities failed to create level playing field for the election," said DU JCD general secretary

The Dhaka University (DU) unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has alleged that a mob has obstructed its leaders of Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall from collecting nomination paper in the Dhaka University Central Student Union (Ducsu) election.
At an emergency press briefing at Madhur Canteen this (18 August) afternoon, DU Chatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahos said, security officials were present at that time but they could not control the situation, compelling the students to leave the hall.
Ganesh Chandra said it's the long-standing demand of the university's students and the JCD for holding the Ducsu and Hall Sangsad elections.
Despite have shortcomings to create level playing field, the JCD decided to participate in the elections as per the schedule announced by the university administration, he said.
"Hence, all the university leaders have been asked to collect nomination papers following due rules," he said.
As per the instructions from the organisations, several female students of the Fazilatunnesa Mujib hall went to collect nomination paper at the Hall Sangsad returning officer's room.
At that time a group of students created anarchy and barred them from collecting the nomination papers.
JCD leaders said, since 5 August 2024, JCD repeatedly asked the DU authority to take initiative to control the situation ahead of Ducsu election.
However, "DU authorities failed to create level playing field for the election," said DU JCD General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon.
