Brahmanbaria municipality goes to polls Sunday

The Election Commission is going to hold Brahmanbaria municipality on Sunday, using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

In this regard, a total of 800 police personnel and 442 ansar members have been deployed to ensure security at 48 voting centres under the municipality, Brahmanbaria District Police (special branch) confirmed it to the media issuing a statement today.

On top of this, a judicial magistrate and 25 executive magistrates will also be on duty to maintain the law and order situation during the election.

In the meantime, necessary equipment has been sent to all the voting centres by Saturday noon. 

In this election, six candidates will compete for the mayoral post, 56 for general councillor, and 15 for women reserved councillor posts. 

A total of 1, 20,504 voters, including 60,942 women, will cast their votes using EVMs.  

District Election Officer and Returning Officer Md Zillur Rahman told the media that necessary measures have been taken in controversial voting centres and adequate law enforcers have been deployed in all the voting centres.
