Polls violence: Case filed over shooting of BNP leader in Keraniganj

A case has been filed over the shooting of a local BNP leader in Keraniganj today (24 January), police said.
A family member of BNP leader Hasan Mollah filed the case with Keraniganj Model Police Station yesterday night, said M Saiful Alam, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The incident occurred on Thursday when two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on Hasan Mollah, 45, during an election campaign in support of Dhaka-2 constituency BNP candidate Amanullah Aman.
Hasan Mollah, son of Akar Mollah of Jagannathpur village under Keraniganj thana, is the general secretary of Hazratpur Union BNP. He sustained injuries in the attack.
He was initially taken to Square Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where he underwent surgery. A physician at the hospital said on Saturday that Hasan Mollah is now out of danger.
