BNP to take action against any member involved in crimes: Rizvi
BNP maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding unethical and unlawful behaviour,
BNP will take strict action against any of its leaders and activists involved in criminal or unethical activities, party's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said today (4 July).
Speaking at an emergency press conference held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, the BNP leader said, "Anyone within the party who commits a crime will face action. BNP maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding unethical and unlawful behaviour."
He added that several party members across the country have already been relieved of their duties for violating party discipline. "This action is being taken to ensure that no one from the party gets involved in criminal activities or associates with terrorism."
His remarks came against the backdrop of the expulsion of a Jubo Dal Banani unit Convener Monir Hossain from the party last night after he and a group of activists allegedly attacked two women inside a hotel in Mohakhali on Wednesday night (2 July).
Highlighting the party's ongoing commitment to democratic values, Rizvi stated that BNP has been fighting for democracy over the past 16 years.
"BNP has continuously worked to revive the democracy that Sheikh Hasina buried. Despite facing various forms of repression, the party has never backed down," he said.
Rizvi also reiterated the party's demand for an immediate free and fair election.
