Appeal hearings continue for sixth day at EC over nomination decisions
According to the EC schedule, a total of 100 appeal applications are set to be heard today as part of the ongoing review process
The sixth day of appeal hearings against returning officer's decisions on nomination papers for the 13th National Parliament Election continued for the sixth day today (15 January) at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, along with four other election commissioners, presided over the proceedings.
According to the EC schedule, a total of 100 appeal applications are set to be heard today as part of the ongoing review process. After the initial scrutiny, returning officers rejected 723 nomination papers, 645 appeals challenging those decisions have been filed with the commission so far.
The appeal hearings are being held ahead of the national election, with the commission working through the backlog of appeals to finalise the list of eligible candidates.
