AL will not be allowed to engage in politics in Bangladesh: NCP
They demanded reforms and holding of a constituent assembly election
Leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) have said the Awami League (AL) will not be allowed to engage in politics in Bangladesh, accusing it of being a party of murderers, terrorists, and criminals.
At a protest rally held today (22 April) in the capital's Khamarbari area, organised by the NCP's greater Tejgaon and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar zones, the party called for the trial of the Awami League and a ban on its political activities. They also demanded reforms and the holding of a constituent assembly election.
During the event, Joint Member Secretary Mushfiq Us Salehin said, "The Awami League is a party of murderers, terrorists, and criminals. It should no longer be allowed to engage in politics in Bangladesh. The Awami League must be tried, punished, and banned. This is crucial to eliminating fascism in the country."
Another Joint Member Secretary Rifat Rashid said, "The interim government enjoys high popularity, but in reality, it has failed to act. The first step in dismantling the fascist system should have been to ban the Awami League."
"Instead of focusing on reforms, the government is granting bail to Awami League leaders. The government's priority should be banning the Awami League, but instead, they are delaying reforms. They haven't even managed to announce the July Charter yet."
The event was also attended by senior joint convenor Ariful Islam Adeeb, joint member secretary Nizamuddin, and other party leaders.
