East West University student found dead on campus in Dhaka's Aftabnagar
He reportedly left his classroom around 3:10pm, and a short while later, a few students spotted his body between the two buildings.
Police recovered the body of a student from inside the campus of East West University, located in Dhaka's Aftabnagar area, today (20 November).
The deceased has been identified as Mushfiq Uzzaman, a first-year, second-semester student of the university's Department of Law.
Confirming the matter, Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Police Station, said the body was found around 4pm in an open space between the Dr Farashuddin Bhaban and the main academic building of the university. "Upon receiving information, police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy."
He added, "It appears to be a case of suicide. CCTV footage shows the student jumping from the rooftop of a campus building. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report."
University sources said Mushfiq attended classes earlier in the day.
