EWU re-elects chairperson of the board of trustees

For the next two years, distinguished industrialist Syed Manzur Elahi has been re-elected as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of East West University (EWU).
The decision was made at the recent meeting of the University's Board of Trustees, chaired by the founding Board President, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin.
Syed Manzur Elahi is the founder and Chairman of Apex Group. He is known as the pioneer of the footwear industry in this country. He is also the Chairman of Mutual Trust Bank. Besides, he served twice as an advisor to the caretaker government of Bangladesh in 1996 and 2001, and he has a reputation for his professionalism, impartiality, and leadership qualities. He was the key organiser and founding treasurer when the EWU was established. Under his leadership and vision, the university has achieved remarkable success in improving the quality of higher education and achieving academic excellence.
Syed Manzur Elahi holds a post-graduate degree in economics from Dhaka University. He has served as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB), the President of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), and the President of the Dhaka University Alumni Association. He has also been the Director of Bangladesh Bank, Sonali Bank and Bangladesh Krishi Bank. For his outstanding contributions to industry and commerce, Syed Manzur Elahi received the "Business Executive of the Year 2000" award from the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), Bangladesh, and the "Life Time Achievement Award" by the 21st DHL-Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards in 2023.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor of EWU, said Syed Manzur Elahi's re-election is an essential milestone for East West University, which will open new horizons in the university's progress.
