AL must be tried collectively for mass killings thru new legislation if needed: Ganosamhati Andolon

The Ganosamhati Andolon has demanded that the ousted Awami League be tried as a party even if it requires enacting new laws, alongside prosecuting genocidal fascists and their accomplices.
Speaking at an Iftar event in Mymensingh, the party's Chief Coordinator Junaid Saki said, "There is a tug-of-war over credit for the mass uprising—one group wants to claim it all for themselves. After 5 August, divisions are being created, and tagging is being done in a fascist manner. This will ultimately pave the way for the resurgence of old fascists. Those creating these divisions must be identified as enemies."
Emphasising a constitutional reform council to facilitate the amendment of the constitution, he said no action should be taken that could disrupt national unity.
"Some are talking about reforms, others about elections. But the original understanding was that reforms and elections would take place together," he added.
Presided over by Mostafizur Rahman Rajib, convenor of the party's Mymensingh district unit, Rukunuzzaman Rokon, member secretary of BNP's southern district unit, Abul Hasan Rubel, executive coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, Hatem Rana, member secretary of Nagorik Oikya's district unit, and leaders of Gono Odhikar Parishad, Rahat Jahan Hossain, Ali Yusuf, and Abul Kalam Al Azad, among others spoke on the occasion.
