1,035 candidates to contest DU hall union elections
A total of 1,109 candidates had submitted their nomination papers

A total of 1,035 candidates are set to contest 13 posts across 18 residential dorms as the final list of candidates for the Dhaka University (DU) hall union elections has been published.
A total of 1,109 candidates had submitted their nomination papers. Of them, 73 withdrew their candidacy while one nomination was cancelled, leaving 1,035 candidates in the final race, a DU press release said today (27 August).
The distribution of candidates across the halls is as follows: 59 candidates are contesting in Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall; 31 in Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall; 62 in Salimullah Muslim Hall; 55 in Jagannath Hall; 58 in Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall; 75 in Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall; 45 in Ruqayyah Hall; 75 in Masterda Surja Sen Hall; 60 in Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall; 35 in Shamsun Nahar Hall; 68 in Kabi Jasimuddin Hall; 73 in Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall; 59 in Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall; 36 in Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall; 76 in Amar Ekushey Hall; 38 in Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall; 68 in Bijoy Ekattor Hall; and 62 in Sir AF Rahman Hall.
The DU hall union elections will be held simultaneously with the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) polls on September 9.
