Policewoman found dead in Dhaka's Dakshinkhan
The deceased was identified as Razia Sultana Mim, 28, a “nayak” serving at the Armed Police Battalion’s (APBn) Uttara headquarters.
The body of a female police officer was recovered from her residence in the capital's Dakshinkhan area in the early hours of today (2 January).
The deceased was identified as Razia Sultana Mim, 28, a "nayak" serving at the Armed Police Battalion's (APBn) Uttara headquarters.
Confirming the incident, Dakshinkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shariful Islam told The Business Standard that police initially believe she died by suicide following a family dispute.
"Her body was sent for autopsy and later taken to her village home for burial. An unnatural death case has been filed by her father, Md Nasir Uddin Bachchu," the OC said.
According to police, the incident occurred at a residence in the Kasaibari area around 9:30pm yesterday. Razia was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared her dead around midnight.
Razia's husband, Rajib Mia, a highway police constable posted in Bhanga, Faridpur, told police that he had an argument with his wife earlier in the evening. Following the dispute, she allegedly hanged herself.
He said he later found her hanging, rescued her, and rushed her to DMCH, where doctors pronounced her dead.
