Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan today (26 September) emphasised that police officers must work strictly within the bounds of the law to meet public expectations, which remain high.

Addressing a special meeting organised by the DMP's Welfare and Force Division at the Shaheed SI Shirumia Auditorium in Rajarbagh Police Lines, the commissioner highlighted the need for renewed efforts to fulfil these expectations.

"The police force is a vital part of the state, and every action we take is regulated by law. There is no room for us to act beyond it—we must work within the law," he said, underscoring the importance of legal compliance in police operations.

During the meeting, members from various ranks of the DMP presented specific concerns and demands to the DMP commissioner. Hasan assured them that their issues would be addressed and committed to improving conditions within the force, particularly at the Rajarbagh Police Lines.

He promised necessary actions to enhance the cleanliness and appearance of the police lines, alongside prioritising the welfare of the force. "We are committed to addressing these concerns, and steps will be taken to ensure a better working and living environment for our personnel," he said.

To further boost morale, the commissioner emphasised the importance of organising regular sports activities and ensuring quality food in the police mess. He also stressed the need to maintain a healthy environment in the barracks.

The meeting was attended by Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance, and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shoukat Ali, Joint Police Commissioners, relevant Deputy Police Commissioners, and members of the Welfare and Force Division, all of whom participated in discussions aimed at improving the well-being of DMP personnel.
