PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan described the foundation as a beacon of inspiration for institutions across Bangladesh, acknowledging its significant contributions to poverty alleviation through employment generation
The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has committed to serving 25 million low-income households nationwide by 2030.
Currently, it offers a comprehensive range of financial and non-financial services to over 20 million low-income families through more than 200 Partner Organisations.
The information was shared at an event marking PKSF's 35th anniversary, celebrated as 'PKSF Day 2025,' at PKSF Bhaban-1 in Agargaon, Dhaka, today (13 November), according to a press release.
The event reflected on three and a half decades of contributions to poverty alleviation and also launched the organisation's far-reaching Strategic Plan for 2025–2030.
The celebration, which began with the release of pigeons and the cutting of a cake, was presided over by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan, while Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader delivered the welcome speech.
In his remarks, Md Fazlul Kader recalled that the Government of Bangladesh established PKSF in 1990.
Over the past 35 years, PKSF has implemented a wide range of programmes aimed at sustainable poverty alleviation through the provision of capital, training, technological, and marketing support.
Highlighting the organisation's global standing, he said, "According to the World Bank, we are the largest microenterprise financier in the world."
PKSF's reputation also extends internationally — it is accredited by both the Green Climate Fund and the Adaptation Fund as the National Implementing Entity, in recognition of its effectiveness, transparency, and good governance practices.
PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan described the foundation as a beacon of inspiration for institutions across Bangladesh, acknowledging its significant contributions to poverty alleviation through employment generation.
Under his leadership, PKSF has recently formulated its Strategic Plan 2025–2030 to address emerging needs. The key objectives of this plan are to create decent employment, mitigate risks, and enhance capacities.
The Chairman urged all PKSF officials to reaffirm their commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the plan at the field level.
Kader noted that although this year's anniversary was observed in a modest manner, it carries deep significance as it marks the beginning of the Strategic Plan's implementation.
He expressed hope that, upon the successful completion of the plan in 2030, the anniversary would be celebrated on a grand scale.
Khan concluded the event by reaffirming his commitment to strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness of PKSF and its partner organisations. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh, international development partners, Partner Organisations, grassroots members, and all stakeholders.
Among others who spoke at the event were Deputy Managing Directors AQM Golam Mawla, Md Mashiar Rahman, Md Hasan Khaled, and Dr Akond Mohammad Rafiqul Islam.
