Students of major universities and schools across the capital, including Dhaka University, BRAC University, East-West University and North South University, have joined the global strike for Gaza.
Meanwhile authorities of Sunbeams and Adroit International School have announced a school closure in solidarity with the global strike.

Sporadic protests were brought out in parts of the city with students carrying banners and placards.

Students of Dhaka University boycotted class and gathered in front of Raju Memorial at the Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) of the university today morning.

Students of North South University organised a protest march under the banner "Stand for Palestine" from Gate No. 8 around 11:30am. The march circled the university campus and ended at the main gate.
Palestinian students and senior faculty members studying at North South University also participated in the protest in solidarity with the students. The participants expressed solidarity with the global pro-Palestinian movement.

Jahangirnagar University authorities have condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza, terming the actions of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) as genocide and urging the international community to take swift measures to halt the bloodshed.

The university expressed grave concern over the widespread killing of civilians, particularly women and children and the indiscriminate destruction of homes and infrastructure in Gaza, said a press release signed by the acting director of JU's Public Relations Office today.
Meanwhile, a group of Jahangirnagar University School and College students staged a demonstration at around 11:00am at JU's central Shaheed Minar premises in protest of Israeli brutalises and demanded a free Palestine.
Israeli attacks have intensified in Gaza over the past week or so despite a UN Security Council resolution that called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, marking the first such resolution passed during the nearly six-month-long conflict.

Notably, Israeli forces have been engaged in significant operations around al-Shifa Hospital and in Khan Younis. Despite international calls for a cessation of hostilities, Israeli strikes persist, particularly targeting residential areas near Gaza City's al-Shifa Hospital, where clashes continue following a siege lasting over a week.

Palestinian officials say more than 1,000 people have been killed since 18 March. Most of the victims are women and children.
Al Jazeera Arabic is reporting that at least two people have been killed in the Israeli raid near the city of Deir el-Balah today (7 April).
