Parked bus catches fire on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Savar
The incident occurred around 10pm near the highway's Nabinagar‑bound service lane, where the bus had been left parked.
A parked bus caught fire in Savar's Genda area along the Dhaka–Aricha Highway on Saturday night (12 December), according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The incident occurred around 10pm near the highway's Nabinagar‑bound service lane, where the bus had been left parked.
Savar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Warehouse Inspector Meherul Islam told The Business Standard that at 10:03pm they received the call about the fire. "Two units rushed to the scene. One unit managed to bring the fire under control at 10:15pm after several minutes of effort."
"No casualties were reported in the incident," he added.
However, he could not immediately say how the fire had started in the bus. The officer suspected the vehicle was likely used to transport garment workers.
Savar Model Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) Arman Ali said they rushed to the scene after receiving the report and are investigating the matter. "We have not yet found the bus owner, driver, or any eyewitnesses. The cause of the fire will be known after the investigation.
