Former BPDB member Masud Hasan Jamali passes away
Former Member (Generation) of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and eminent engineer Masud Hasan Jamali passed away on 22 December at Uttara Crescent Hospital. He was 89.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, relatives and a large number of admirers.
Chairman (Grade-1) of the Bangladesh Power Development Board Engineer Md Rezaul Karim expressed deep sorrow at the death of Engineer Masud Hasan Jamali and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Engineer Jamali joined the then EP WAPDA as an assistant engineer on 10 May, 1962. After independence, he served in various important positions at the Bangladesh Power Development Board. He was widely regarded as a competent and dedicated engineer throughout his professional career. He retired in December 1995 as Member (Generation) of BPDB. His contribution to the development of the engineering profession in Bangladesh is widely acknowledged.
Engineer Masud Hasan Jamali was also a distinguished sports organiser. He served as general secretary of the Bangladesh Tennis Federation in two tenures — from 1986 to 1990 and again from 1996 to 1998 — with dedication, integrity and efficiency. His contribution to the development of tennis and the institutional strengthening of the federation will be remembered.
He was the proud father of late Shobhan Jamali, a former national tennis champion and Bangladesh Davis Cup team player.
The janaza will be held after Zuhr prayers today at Uttara Jame Mosque, followed by burial at Azimpur Old Graveyard.
