There is no security risk during this year's Durga Puja, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today (1 October), assuring that police will take strict legal action against anyone attempting to disrupt security.
"Puja is being celebrated in a festive atmosphere at a total of 254 puja mandaps in Dhaka city," he said after inspecting the overall security arrangements of Banani and Bashundhara residential puja mandaps in the capital.
No untoward incident has been reported so far, he added.
He further said DMP has already taken measures so that devotees can immerse the idols in a festive atmosphere on the day of immersion tomorrow.
The commissioner expressed hope that the Durga Puja ceremonies will end beautifully with the joint efforts of everyone and sought cooperation of all concerned.
