DMP warns against malicious, distorted video of commissioner circulated online
DMP views the distorted video as a "vile attempt" to undermine the measures taken to protect public safety and maintain law and order
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a warning against a misleading short video (reel) being circulated on social media, which combines a distorted video clip of DMP Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sajjat Ali with an artificial voice to propagate false and fabricated information.
In a media release issued early this morning (13 November), DMP strongly urged the public not to be misled by such "planned and malicious attempts" being made by what it described as "defeated quarters" using social media.
The specific source of the reel was identified as a Facebook page named "Abar 71".
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police believes the move is a deliberate effort by an "ill-motivated group" to create unnecessary confusion about the police's recent strict actions. The police have taken a firm stance against individuals involved in incidents like cocktail explosions and arson attacks on vehicles in various parts of the capital, carried out in the name of a recent lockdown.
DMP views the distorted video as a "vile attempt" to undermine the measures taken to protect public safety and maintain law and order.
The police have warned that stern legal action will be taken against those involved in producing and disseminating such derogatory and distorted content. They also reiterated their request to all social media users to verify the authenticity of any information, photo, audio, or video before sharing it online.
