News of state of emergency a 'gossip': Home ministry secretary

Home Ministry Senior Secretary Nasimul Ghani has termed the news of declaring a state of emergency amid deteriorating law and order situation in the country as a "gossip".
"These are gossips. Discussions are being held. One or two people are talking. I have no comment on this," he said in response to questions from reporters at the home ministry this afternoon (24 March).
"We will continue with our work as it is. It will continue that way," he added.
Asked about security measures during the upcoming Eid, Nasimul said, "We have not reduced vigilance at all. Not only is there general police patrolling, but ministry officials are also directly monitoring every night to see how the patrols are being carried out in Dhaka city. We are alert."
