NCP leaders accused of misconduct at govt office in Brahmanbaria, GD filed

Four leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) have been accused of misconduct and forcibly entering a government office in Brahmanbaria's Ashuganj to hold an event without permission.
Officials alleged that around 11:30am today (5 August) NCP activists broke through a fenced area inside the office premises of Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kazi Tahmina Sarmin and misbehaved with her after they were told not to hold a programme there.
Ashuganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rafe Mohammad Sara said the assistant commissioner had informed the NCP leaders that the space is a government property and cannot be used as a party venue.
Despite the objection, the NCP went ahead with their planned doa mahfil and set up a "July Mancha" to mark the anniversary of the 2024 July mass uprising.
Following the event, the assistant commissioner filed a general diary (GD) at the local police station, naming four NCP leaders and 20-30 unidentified persons.
NCP's Ashuganj coordinator Aminul Islam Dalim denied the allegations, saying, "When we went to hold a doa mahfil there, the assistant commissioner stopped us. We said that when the Awami League used to hold events here earlier, they would not stop them, so why are they stopping us? The allegations of misbehaving with the assistant commissioner or breaking the fence are not correct."
