National Plastics and Chemicals Institute of Explosives begins survey in DSCC

Survey work on the list of the National Plastics and Chemicals Institute of Explosives in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Zone 4 has started with three teams on Sunday, said a press release.

The teams include Regional Executive Officer of DSCC Zone 4, Md Haider Ali; Chief Revenue Officer, Ariful Haque; and DSCC Chief Estate Officer, Rasel Sabrin as chiefs.

The teams are made up of representatives from the Fire Service, Department of Civil Defense, Directorate of Explosives, as well as three other specialised government agencies.

The teams will submit a report to the Cabinet about: how many individuals and companies trade explosives in the DSCC area, the number of retailers and wholesalers, the status of licenses, the physical condition of warehouses, and the type of explosives traded.

It is to be noted that, the areas covered by Zone 3, 4 and 5 of the Southern City Corporation are densely populated and Zone 4 has the highest number of explosives and national chemical business activities; the survey is being conducted in Zone 4 first for this reason.

After the completion of the survey work in area 4, the survey activities will be conducted in Zone 3 and Zone 5.

Moreover, The Ministry of Industries is implementing three projects to relocate existing chemical warehouses and plastic factories from Old Dhaka.

The government implemented two projects to construct temporary warehouses in Shampur in Dhaka and Tongi in Gazipur by June 2021 and another project to construct the BSCIC Industrial Park in Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj by June 2022.

The Ministry of Industries is implementing these initiatives to permanently relocate Old Dhaka's existing chemical warehouses and plastic factories.
