Mursalin Nomani elected president, Mashiur Rahman secretary of DRU

On Monday, a total of 1693 members of the country's biggest organisation of  reporters cast their votes to elect their leaders.

Mursalin Nomani and Mashiur Rahman Khan have been elected president and general secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), a major platform of journalists.

Besides, Oslamn Gani Babul has been elected as vice-president while Arafat Daria as joint-secretary of the organisation.

MM Jashim, a reporter of The Business Standard, has been elected as executive committee member bagging highest number of votes.

On Monday, DRU members cast their votes to elect their leaders. Amid much festivity, the voting began at 9am and ended at 5pm (Monday) without any break.

The other elected office bearers are – Shah Alam Nur, finance secretary; Mainul Hasan Sohel, organising secretary; Md Jafar Iqbal, office secretary; Rita Nahar, women affairs secretary; Maeedur Rahman Rubel, publicity and publication secretary; Halim Mohammad, information technology and training secretary; Maksuda Lisa, sports secretary; Mizan Chowdhury, cultural affairs secretary; Mohammad Noimddin, hospitality secretary; and Khalid Saifullah, welfare secretary.

Besides, Azizur Rahman, Rumana Jaman, Mahbubur Rahman, Rafique Rafi, Nargis Jui, and Jahangir Kiron have been elected as executive member.
