The deceased, Hossain Ahmed, was a student at Jamia Yunusia Madrasa in Brahmanbaria and a resident of Moniyand area in Akhaura Upazila.

A murder case has been filed against former housing and public works minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, along with 26 leaders of the Brahmanbaria District Awami League and its affiliated organisations. 

The case was filed by Tania Akter, the elder sister of the deceased, Hossain Ahmed, who was killed during clashes in Brahmanbaria town on 27 March 2021. 

Sumon Banik, the investigating officer of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, confirmed the news and said efforts will be made to arrest the accused.

According to the case statement, During the protest of madrasa students and teachers against the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh, Hossain, a madrasa student, was shot on the right side of his head. Later, he was taken to District Sadar Hospital in a critical condition and later to a hospital in Dhaka where doctors declared him dead.

The case was filed on Friday (23 August) night at the Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station.

The deceased, Hossain Ahmed, was a student at Jamia Yunusia Madrasa in Brahmanbaria and a resident of Moniyand area in Akhaura Upazila.

The case names 26 individuals, including the general secretary of the Brahmanbaria Municipal Awami League, Rafiqul Islam, the president of the District Chhatra League, Rabiul Hossain, and General Secretary Shahadat Hossain, as well as two personal assistants to former Minister Muktadir Chowdhury, Abu Musa Ansari, and M A H Mahbub Alam. 

Another 200-300 unidentified individuals have also been made accused in the case.
