Palli Bidyut Association's ongoing movement unjustified, conspiracy to destabilise country: BREB
In a press release issued on Tuesday, BREB stated that despite various justified benefits already being provided, a group of dismissed officials and staff continue to demand reinstatement

The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) has termed the ongoing movement by a faction of Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS) "unjustified" and accused them of attempting to destabilise the country's power sector and the interim government.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, BREB stated that despite various justified benefits already being provided, a group of dismissed officials and staff continue to demand reinstatement. It also alleged that the protesters are pursuing "irrational" demands at the cost of public service.
"Despite enjoying various facilities, a group of PBS officials and employees are pushing personal agendas that obstruct customer service," read the statement, signed by Tamanna Kabir, director (administration) of BREB.
The statement comes after the PBS on Tuesday announced a "March to Dhaka" programme for yesterday to press home their seven-point charter of demands, which includes the removal of the BREB chairman, reinstatement of dismissed employees, introduction of unified service rules for REB and PBS staff, and withdrawal of what they call false cases against association members.
BREB expressed concern over the protest, calling it part of a larger conspiracy. "This is a well-planned move to destroy a successful state institution like BREB and to destabilise the interim government which was formed through the July uprising," the statement said.
The board reiterated that the ongoing protests are harmful to more than 140 million electricity consumers, especially in rural areas, and insisted on maintaining discipline in the interest of uninterrupted power supply and economic stability.
In response to the PBS's demand for a unified service code, BREB clarified that such decisions lie with the government, not the board. "Any activity that disrupts office discipline or takes customers hostage over this issue will not be tolerated," it warned.
PBS, in their own press release issued Tuesday night and signed by four of its leaders, claimed that their long-standing concerns have been ignored despite repeated discussions with authorities. They also criticised the lack of action on recommendations made by a reform committee.
BREB, however, reaffirmed its commitment to continue rural electrification efforts with "integrity, dedication, and discipline", and called on all employees to adhere strictly to service rules.
