Munshiganj’s traditional sweet ‘Patkheer’ gets GI recognition
Its unique taste, aroma, and quality distinguish it from other sweets across the country

'Patkheer', a traditional sweet from Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj has been officially recognised as a Geographical Indication (GI) product.
The Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) presented the official GI certificate at an event in Foreign Service Academy today (30 April).
Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, and Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, jointly handed over the GI certificate to Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tuj Zohra Jannat at the ceremony.
'Patkheer' has been awarded a Geographical Indication (GI) certificate in recognition of its historical and cultural significance.
Crafted for generations by local artisans in Munshiganj, 'Patkheer' is made using milk, a touch of turmeric powder, and sugar, and is deeply rooted in the region's heritage.
Its unique taste, aroma, and quality distinguish it from other sweets across the country.
