Mob attacks, vandalism part of a 'blueprint': Fakhrul tells BBC Bangla
However, he added that such efforts would not succeed
Recent incidents of mobs, vandalism and arson targeting various locations across the country are part of a broader conspiracy to destabilise Bangladesh, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told BBC Bangla today (19 December).
He further said the BNP condemns the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi. "We think these mobs, attacks and acts of vandalism surrounding this incident are all part of a blueprint."
"Through these activities, there is an attempt to establish extremism in Bangladesh," he said.
However, he added that such efforts would not succeed.
"Nothing can be imposed on Bangladesh by force or by creating mobs. This is not possible in such a country with liberal culture," he said.
The BNP secretary general further said the party views the recent violence as an attempt to obstruct the upcoming election.
