Missing Chhatra Dal leader's body recovered from Padma
He went missing after a bulkhead carrying 123 tourists hit a bridge pillar and three passengers fell into the Padma.
The body of a Chattra Dal leader, who went missing after a bulkhead hit a pillar of Hardinge Bridge in Pabna's Ishwardi, was recovered from the Padma River around 35 hours later.
His body was recovered from the river near Char-Kurulia Akater Ghat in Lakshmikunda Union around 10:30am today (13 September), said Bheramara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Amirul Arafat and Bheramara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zayedur Rahman.
The deceased was identified as Rakibuzzaman Rocky, 30, president of the Shailkupa municipal unit of Chattra Dal in Jhenaidah.

According to police, the bulkhead carrying 123 tourists reached Hardinge Bridge around 9:10pm on Friday (11 September), when strong currents pushed the rear of the vessel into Pillar No. 4 of the bridge.
Rocky, along with two other passengers, Liton and Wahab, fell into the river and went missing. Liton and Wahab were later rescued, but Rocky remained missing.
The group had travelled from Katla Garighat in Shailkupa to visit the Solaiman Shah shrine in Bheramara. The accident occurred while they were returning after visiting the shrine.
After Rocky went missing, the Bheramara upazila administration launched a search operation. Fire service teams from Ishwardi and Bheramara, along with river police, conducted searches in the Padma.
After nearly a day of searching, rescuers recovered Rocky's body from the river near Char-Kurulia Akater Ghat today.
The body was being prepared to be handed over to his family after completion of the necessary legal procedures.
