Minister seeks US investment in Bangladesh Railways
During the meeting, all issues related to how the United States can cooperate with Bangladesh Railway were discussed.
Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan has urged for investment from the United States in the Bangladesh Railways.
The minister came up with the call while Earl R Miller, US Ambassador to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call at Rail Bhaban on Wednesday.
During the meeting, all issues related to how the United States can cooperate with Bangladesh Railway were discussed.

The minister later said that forty broad gauge locomotives made in the US will come in five lots and eight of the first lot have already reached Bangladesh. In addition, the same American company, Progress Rail, will provide equipment for the 100 locomotives that Hyundai Rotem of South Korea will supply to Bangladesh.
He requested the US Ambassador for taking steps to make the equipment of these locomotives easily available and arrange training to create skilled manpower to operate them.
The minister also called on the US to look into how advanced technology can be integrated into the country's railways.
Sujan highlighted the infrastructure problems of the railways in Bangladesh and said that it is very important to build double lines.
He sought the cooperation of the US regarding the construction. He also said that the US business delegation could look into various areas of investment in railways in Bangladesh.
The minister called for the construction of passenger coaches and locomotive factories in the country.
The meeting also discussed the purchase of ten more locomotives from the American supplier Progress Rail at the same price.
The US delegation expressed positive interest in these issues.
