Foreign Minister requests Spain to take agricultural workers from Bangladesh

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has requested Spain to take agricultural workers from Bangladesh.
The minister made the appeal recently while talking to Spain's Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya over phone, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Momen also mentioned that there is a great scope for expanding cooperation between the two countries in the sector of agriculture.

"Bangladesh is the fourth largest producer of rice and fifth largest producer of vegetables in the world. So, Spain can employ the agricultural workers of Bangladesh after Covid-19 situation is over," said Momen.
He also urged the country to import garments, shrimps, jute-made goods, medicines, personal protective equipment and other items from Bangladesh.
He told the Spanish minister that there was a scope for the country to invest in the development of railways in Bangladesh.
He sought the cooperation of Spain so that buyers from different parts of the world would not cancel their orders in the garment sector of Bangladesh.
Arancha González hoped that the two countries would further enhance economic cooperation in the aftermath of Covid-19.
Momen sought cooperation from her in taking back over 300 Bangladeshi migrant workers, who returned home and got stuck here due to Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the Spanish minister assured her full cooperation to facilitate the return of 300 Bangladeshi expatriates to Spain.
