Migrant aspirants suffer as BMET server issues delay PDO certificate delivery
The PDO certificate is essential to complete the migration process

Hundreds of aspiring migrant workers across the country have been facing difficulties obtaining their Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) certificates, despite completing the mandatory three-day training.
The PDO certificate is essential to complete the migration process.
Since Sunday, no one has been able to access their certificates due to server issues at the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET). Even visiting the district BMET offices has not helped, as certificates were not being issued there.
BMET sources confirmed that while the server was down until Monday evening, it resumed operation later that night. As a result, PDO certificates have been available for online download from today.
Hasan Ali, younger brother of Sohel Mia from Shariatpur, completed the three-day PDO training at the Shariatpur Technical Training Center (TTC) on Thursday in preparation for going to Saudi Arabia. He has also been caught in the delay.
Sohel Mia told TBS yesterday afternoon, "We've been trying since Sunday, but still haven't received the certificate. Without it, we can't book the flight ticket."
Mohammad Ohidul Islam, assistant director of the Shariatpur District Employment Office, said, "After the server went down, TTC principals were instructed to issue certificates manually based on the enrolment list."
Abu Raihan, BMET's system analyst, told TBS, "The server has been fixed since Tuesday (today). It was a temporary issue and has now been resolved."
