Three more accused in Sylhet MC College gang rape case confessed to their crimes before a Sylhet court today.

Md Ziadur Rahman, the additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Sylhet, recorded the statement of Rajan while Ainul Islam confessed to his crimes before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman and Mahbubur Rahmna Rony before the court of Magistrate Sharmin Khanam Neela.

The three were produced before the courts at noon on completion of their five-day remand.

Amal Kumar Chowdhury, assistant commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed the news to The Business Standard.

After recording statements, they were sent to jail in the evening, he said.

With the latest ones, a total of six accused gave confessional statements before court.

The two other accused - Tarekul Islam Tarek and Mahfuzur Rahman – are now serving five-day remand in police custody and are likely to be produced before court on Sunday.

On Saturday, they were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for collecting DNA sample.

On September 25, in the afternoon, a couple from South Surma in Sylhet went to visit MC College.

Five to six leaders and activists of Chhatra League allegedly grabbed them, brought them to the dormitory, and beat them up.

Later, the prime accused tied up the woman's husband and raped the woman in front of him.

The next day, the victim's husband filed a case against nine people at the city's Shahparan police station, naming six people. All the six accused are Bangladesh Chhatra League activists.

They are: Saifur Rahman, Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Tarek, Arjun Lankar, Rabiul Islam, and Mahfuzur Rahman. The victim is currently admitted to the OCC centre of Osmani Hospital in Sylhet.
