Man held with gold bars worth Tk1.2cr in Jashore
Police today (4 May) detained a suspected gold smuggler with 10 gold bars worth approximately Tk1.2 crore from the Bagachra area of Sharsha upazila in Jashore.
The detainee is Shubho Ghosh (32), son of Sunil Ghosh from Jonmotop village in Manikganj's Singair upazila.
Nishat Al Nahiyan, assistant superintendent of Police (ASP) of Navaron Circle, said acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from Sharsha Police Station conducted an operation near the Union Parishad office at Bagachra Bazar today.

During the operation, officers recovered ten gold bars weighing 1.192 kilograms from the suspect's jeans pocket, he added.
Legal action against the suspect is underway and the seized gold bars have been submitted to the treasury branch of Jashore Customs, the police official said.
