Man detained with toy pistol at Inqilab Mancha protest in Shahbagh

Police detained a man carrying a toy pistol from Inqilab Mancha's blockade programme in the capital's Shahbagh area at around 8:15pm today (29 December).
The detainee was identified as Md Arafat Jaman, 38, resident of Road No 8/A in Jigatola.
Confirming the matter, Masud Alam, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Ramna division), said activists and locals held the person and handed him over to police.

"A toy pistol was recovered from his possession, which closely resembles a real firearm," the DC said.
He added that the man is being questioned at Shahbagh Police Station to determine why he carried the toy pistol to the protest venue.
