Man arrested for defamatory remarks on PM

A local reporter of Daily Bangladesh today made a complaint with Joydebpur Police Station following the defamatory post on Facebook

A Gazipur shopkeeper was arrested in a case under Digital Security Act (DSA) after he had made a defamatory post on his personal Facebook account against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The arrestee was identified as Babul Hasan Khan, 45, son of late Hasmat Khan of Rajendrapur Janapur in Joydebpur of the district.

Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Joydebpur Police Station, said locals came to know that Babul Hasan Khan made various defamatory comments on Facebook defaming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Later, a local reporter of Daily Bangladesh today made a complaint with the police station following the defamatory post on Facebook.

Police arrested Babul as the complaint found true against him. Later, a case under DSA was filed with the police station against him in the evening, the OC added.
