Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Professor Md Sayedur Rahman said that the list of martyrs killed in the July-August 2024 mass uprising will be prepared and sent to the next cabinet by Monday.

He said this is not the final list, as verification and data validation are ongoing.

He made these remarks during a meeting at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Dhaka on Thursday.

If additional information about martyrs becomes available later, it will also be incorporated into the list and sent to the cabinet, said the chief adviser's special assistant to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The meeting focused on the treatment of injured student protesters from the July-August 2024 mass uprising and the rehabilitation of the families of the martyrs.

Khandaker Zahirul Islam, leader of the special cell on the mass uprising, said that verified information about 859 martyrs has so far been obtained from the management information system department of the Directorate General of Health Services. However, this data is not final, and work is ongoing.

Health Services Division Secretary Md Saidur Rahman said that a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Finance requesting an increase in the budget allocation to improve the quality of food provided to injured patients in hospitals.

He hoped that the increased allocation would lead to visible improvements in food quality. Hospital directors have been instructed to ensure that the injured patients are not required to spend their own money on medical supplies under any circumstances, he added.

The meeting also discussed the treatment of the injured student protesters, the finalising of the list of martyrs and injured, the rehabilitation of the martyr families and the injured, the distribution of responsibilities among relevant stakeholders, and other related issues.

Sarjis Alam, general secretary of the July Martyr Memorial Foundation, said that so far, financial assistance has been provided to 525 martyr families and 1,410 injured through the foundation.

Among others, Md Sarwar Bari, secretary of the Directorate of Health Education, Md Mohiuddin, secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Ishrat Chowdhury, secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Professor Md Abu Zafar, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services, and Nazmul Hossain, director general of the Directorate General of Health Education, were present at the meeting.
