Selim Mahmud, central general secretary of Garments Sramik Front, the workers' wing of Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal, was arrested from his house in Narayanganj's Fatullah around 1:30am today (16 April).
Confirming the matter, Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Liaquat Ali said, "On 9 April, workers of Robintex factory in Rupganj clashed with joint forces. At least 40 people were injured.
"The factory authorities and the police filed two separate cases over the incident, accusing 66 named and 300 unnamed people."
Selim was shown arrested in both cases and sent to jail through the court this afternoon, he added.
