KU student suspended for assaulting teacher

The Khulna University (KU) administration has suspended a student and withheld his academic certificate over his alleged involvement in assaulting Hasan Mahmud Saki, who is a teacher at the university and its student affairs assistant director.
The accused, Mobarak Hossain Noman, is a student of the 2018-19 session of the Bangla department.
The university's Syndicate took the decision in an emergency meeting held today (3 May), said Vice-Chancellor Professor Rezaul Karim.
Also, a three-member investigation committee, headed by Faculty of Education Dean Imdadul Haque, has been formed to probe the incident and submit its findings within five working days.
"Noman's studentship and certificate will remain suspended until the investigation is complete. Final action will be taken based on the committee's report," said the vice-chancellor.
Additionally, the university has decided to file a criminal case against the student and has banned him from entering the campus.
The incident occurred yesterday following a dispute between Noman and Hasan Mahmud Saki reportedly over plucking mangoes from a tree on campus.
The argument escalated, and Noman allegedly assaulted the teacher, who lost consciousness and was later admitted to Khulna City Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, agitated students staged a protest last night, demanding immediate punishment for the attacker.
