Khulna University expels 12 students over ragging, drugs, misconduct
An office order from the Student Affairs Directorate said the university imposed different punishments on 19 students depending on the gravity of the offences, including permanent and temporary expulsion, financial penalties, and written undertaking.

The Khulna University (KU) authorities have taken disciplinary action against 19 students — including the expulsion of 12 — over ragging, physical assault, religious defamation, and involvement with drugs.
Professor Nazmus Sadath, director of the university's Student Affairs office, confirmed the information yesterday (15 October). He said the decision was made at the 27th meeting of the university's disciplinary board held on 9 October, based on the investigation committee's report.

Among the punished students, Bangla Discipline student Md Mobarak Hossain Noman was permanently expelled, had his academic certificate cancelled, and was banned from entering the campus for life for assaulting a teacher. However, considering his unconditional apology, the certificate cancellation decision has been temporarily suspended on humanitarian grounds.
Economics department student Hasan Hawlader and Mass Communication and Journalism student Aminul Islam were permanently expelled for taking, and selling drugs.
Law department student Md Jahidul Islam was permanently expelled for involvement in a campus brawl.
In the same case, two fourth-year students of Law department, Meheraf Hossain Rabbi and Aminul Ahsan were instructed to submit written bonds along with their guardians, pledging not to engage in any future indiscipline.
For committing religious defamation on Facebook, Mass Communication and Journalism department student Md Russell Sheikh was permanently expelled, while his peer Tanay Roy was expelled for two years.
Mathematics department student KM Rauful Alam Arnav was expelled for six months for involvement in ragging. In the same incident, Md Rimon Mia, Ahsan Habib, and Md Salman Hossain were fined Tk5,000 each and directed to submit undertakings signed by their guardians.
In another case of physical altercation on campus, Education department students Md Umar Faruk and Sadman Ud Doula were suspended from academic activities for the current term. Business Administration department student Moniruzzaman Riad and Education department student Ziad Al Sams were each fined Tk5,000 and ordered to submit undertakings.
For using abusive language and issuing death threats, Mathematics department students Babul Akter Durjoy, Rashed Khan Menon, and Bandhan Roy were suspended for six months.
