July Women's Day: Vehicular movement through DU to remain suspended

Vehicular movement through the Dhaka University entrances will be suspended from 3pm tomorrow to 7am on 15 July as the university will observe "July Women's Day" to mark the first anniversary of the July uprising.

The event will take place at the base of the Raju Memorial Sculpture and the TSC premises, featuring audio-visual screenings, cultural performances, and a drone show, said a press release.
The programmes are being jointly organised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Dhaka University, and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The programme will begin at 7pm and continue until 10pm, followed by student-led activities. Female students from DU residential halls are expected to actively participate.
To attend the event, visitors must present a valid ID card issued by the appropriate authorities.
Parking will be available at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy, DU Central Playground, and the National Museum premises. Law enforcement agencies, university proctors, and volunteers will be deployed to maintain order.
To ensure public safety, fire service teams will be stationed at key locations, including the TSC area.
On 15 July, an 'LED Wall Installation' will be set up at the DU VC premises. A special video presentation will recount the traumatic experiences of individuals injured in the 15 July 2024 attack allegedly carried out by Chhatra League members. This segment will be organised jointly by Dhaka University and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
A film screening titled "Teachers in July and Abrar Fahad" will also be held at the Raju Sculpture premises on 17 July as part of the ongoing observances.
