Jubo Dal leader accused of breaking head teacher’s arm at Shariatpur
The victim, Sheikh Nurul Amin Ratan, is the headmaster of Bijhari Upasi Tara Prasanna High School and a resident of the Nasasan area in Naria.
A high school headmaster was allegedly assaulted and had his arm broken by a local Jubo Dal leader in Naria upazila of Shariatpur yesterday afternoon (24 February).
The victim, Sheikh Nurul Amin Ratan, is the headmaster of Bijhari Upasi Tara Prasanna High School and a resident of the Nasasan area in Naria.
Naria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bahar Mia said, "An investigation into the allegations is underway, and necessary legal action will be taken."
According to local sources and police, after finishing his official duties at the school, Ratan was returning home in a battery-run autorickshaw.
When the vehicle reached the Upasi Tin Dokan area, a group of 8-10 people, led by Mizanur Rahman Sikder, president of the Vojeshwar union unit of Jubo Dal, intercepted the autorickshaw.
The attackers allegedly beat him severely, leaving him with serious injuries to his arms, legs, and other parts of his body.
Locals rescued Ratan in an unconscious state and took him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, where he received initial treatment in the emergency department.
An orthopaedic specialist at a private hospital later confirmed a fracture in his right arm.
He was sent to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile, Mizanur Rahman Sikder denied any involvement in the incident.
