JU student killed in road accident in Meherpur

A fourth-year English student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) was killed in a road accident in Fatehpur, Meherpur Sadar this morning (15 October).
The deceased has been identified as Farhana Wahed Omi. The incident occurred around 9am when Omi was travelling with her husband on a motorcycle, Sub-Inspector Faruk Hossain of Meherpur Sadar Police confirmed.
According to SI Hossain, Omi was riding to her in-laws' residence in Ramdaspur when the motorcycle's brakes were applied near the area. A truck approaching from the same direction hit Omi, who was seated at the back of the motorcycle, causing her instant death at the scene. Her husband remained unharmed. The police later transported the body to Meherpur Sadar Hospital for formalities. At the family's request, the body was handed over without an autopsy.
Omi hailed from Hotel Bazar in Meherpur Sadar.

Raihan Sharif, head of the English Department, and Jucsu Vice-President and General Secretary also expressed shock.
Jucsu General Secretary Mazharul Islam said, "We were fellow students in the same department. She was very humble. The entire university mourns her passing. May Allah grant her Jannah."
