M Osman, in-charge of Sea Safe Life Guards, said Hridoy was bathing at Sugandha point of Cox's Bazar beach around 12pm when a strong wave washed him out to sea.

They rescued Hridoy and took him to a local hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead around 12:30pm.

Shajahan Kabir, officer-in-charge of Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station, said the body was handed over to his family members.
