Brunei's High Commissioner to Bangladesh Haji Haris bin Haji Othman met opposition leader and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman today (27 September), with discussions focusing on Bangladesh's ongoing energy crisis and bilateral relations.
The meeting was held at the opposition leader's official residence at 29 Minto Road around 10:30am, reads a press release.
According to release, the two sides discussed Bangladesh's current political situation, democracy, human rights, bilateral relations, and trade and economic cooperation.

They also exchanged views on the potential role and contribution of Brunei in addressing Bangladesh's ongoing energy crisis.
Various aspects of expanding trade and investment between the two countries were also discussed, the press wing said.
Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Brunei in the future.
Brunei High Commission First Secretary Haji Rozaimee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah was also present at the meeting.
Following the meeting, Shafiqur took the high commissioner and the first secretary on a tour to view various graffiti from the July movement.
