IU student found dead in pond
Doctors say he died by drowning
 
A student of Al-Quran and Islamic Studies department under 2021-22 session at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia was found dead in a pond adjacent to Shah Azizur Rahman hall today (17 July).
The deceased was Sajid Abdullah, son of Muhammad Ahsan of Ghatail upazila under Tangail district.
According to IU sources, his body was seen floating at the pond at around 6:30pm. Later, police rescued the body and took it to the medical centre where the attending doctor declared him dead.
The university's on-duty doctor, Dr Shahed, said, "Initial observations suggest that the body had been drowned for several hours before resurfacing. We have sent it to Kushtia Medical College for further examination."
