Govt sidelining opposition notices in parliament by using majority: Jamaat chief
He made the remarks at a meeting with journalists covering Jamaat at Al Falah Auditorium in the capital’s Moghbazar today (23 September).
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that the government is not giving due importance to public-interest notices raised by the opposition in parliament because of its majority.
"The opposition has been forced to take to the streets because its notices and remarks are not given importance in parliament," he said.

Dr Shafiqur said the government had an opportunity to gain public acceptance by implementing the July Charter and holding a referendum, but failed to do so and has consequently become detached from the people.
On the recent fuel price hike, he said "The government is comparing Bangladesh's fuel prices with those of neighbouring countries, but our economy is not as large as theirs."
