IPTV, online portals to come under policy framework: State minister
State Minister for Information Yeaser Khan Choudhury today (26 February) said the country's IPTV platforms and online news portals would be brought under a proper policy framework.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting the Press Club in Nandail, Mymensingh, in the afternoon.
"After taking charge, I have understood how the ministry has been run for the past 17 years. It was operated with irregularities and corruption. Rules and regulations were not properly followed," he said.

The state minister said those operating online portals using only mobile devices must comply with government policies.
He said the government does not intend to restrict media freedom, adding that independent media are essential for democratic development.
Addressing journalists, he also assured support from the Training and Welfare Fund to help improve professional standards in line with policy guidelines.
